More commonly known as Verrucae. These are found on the soles and toes of the feet. They are notoriously resilient to methods of removal. A verruca starts as a tiny pink blemish, it may be speckled with black dots, becoming dark with a crumbly layer of skin. They vary in size from a pinhead upwards.
Plantar Warts Cause:
Verrucae are highly contagious. Socks, shoes and towels used should be kept non- contaminated and for individual use only.
Aesthetic Treatment:
The energy is released over the whole surface area of the verruca by the use of a small probe tapping over the affected area and a slight stinging sensation will be experienced. The probe is then inserted a number of times into the verruca and a sensation will be experienced. Treatment is a little uncomfortable but highly effective although more than almost always required.
Aesthetic Treatment Aftercare:
Following your treatment you may experience:
- A slight reddening/swelling of the skin in the area.
- Warmth in the area that has been treated.
- The appearance of the verruca may change once treated, a scab may form and eventually fall away naturally.
- The area treated may feel itchy as it heals.
Following aesthetic treatment ensure you follow the aftercare advice to avoid unwanted reactions or infections:
- Do not touch the treated area and do not under any circumstances remove the scabs that may appear.
- Apply aftercare product regularly, with clean fresh cotton wool, until the area has completely healed.
- Aftercare products recommended use is Witch Hazel Gel for 24-48 hours, followed by 28 days of Aloe Vera Gel. Apply twice a day or as often as required under usual day/night cream. Apres Clear can be substituted for the Witch Hazel and offers additional anti-bacterial properties.
- Try to keep off your feet as much as possible for at least 48 hours following treatment. The area will be sensitive and standing for long periods, exercise , walking is not recommended. Light flattish comfy shoes with protective cushioned soles are recommended for a few days following treatment.
- The treatment can be washed or cleaned, using a gentle soap free/perfume free cleanser. Gently pat the area dry taking care not to dislodge any scabbing.
- Avoid swimming, saunas, steam rooms, facial steaming, facial scrubs, waxing and other beauty treatments, until the area has completely healed.
- Avoid using any possible skin sensitisers or irritants such as perfume, fake tan products or perfumed body lotions.
